Training ProgramLoving Touch Animal Center is also a teaching facility. Both veterinary students (externs) and veterinarians (interns), as well as veterinary technician students, come from all over the world to LTAC to broaden their horizons in integrated medicine. The vet and technician students have a chance to observe and get some practical hands-on experience with clients and their pets. Most of the veterinarians have completed the IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society) Acupuncture course and are fulfilling the requirements to receive certification in acupuncture. For vet and technician students and veterinarians interested in participating in this program, please give us a call at 770-498-5956 or drop us an e-mail at training@lovingtouchac.com. Here is what a few of our externs/interns had to say: Dr. Gerald - Florida (10/18/97)Wowww!!! The past 3 ½ days were truly memorable. I sincerely congratulate and thank the Loving (Healing) Touch Animal Center for a job well done. On a daily basis, I have observed and was a part of a healing force experienced by few. This is the last option (alternative) for many of the frail, crippled or dying pets that come in. Sometimes I feel that the pets bring their owners to us make their transition easier for them. I see it in their eyes, "the eyes that beg for help," or an answer to their present or chronic pain. For the most part, our gift to heal is given to us to use. We must help God's helpless and hopeless. Intuitively yours, Dr. Gerald Jennifer - Virginia Maryland Veterinary School (06/30/01)Dear LTAC... Well, three weeks went by very quickly. With all your help, I did actually set up a comfortable room out in the back. Thanks for the true Southern hospitality. I could write for hours the effect that all of you and your awesome clinic left upon me. I just left the rat race of Senior Clinics, to participate in a workplace that is a rare find, and unique in many ways. Walking through the front door, that first day, I could feel so much warmth radiate from this place. You all definitely made Fridah feel at home right away also. Simply put, the caring, values, and affection I see around this place is what I hope to find in a workplace one day. It is going to be hard to find any clinic to measure up to what you established in Stone Mountain, Georgia. All who work here have so much vivaciousness and spirituality. It is incredible. You guys are also different form one another, but your common thread is your love for animals and for the protection of their health and spirit. I learned so much about caring for a client's pet and the client. In only three weeks I saw regular patients and their owners and bonded to them both. Now it is sad to leave. Plus, having the opportunity to get my hands wet with TCM, homeopathy and chiropractic, has been a great experience. There is so much to learn. I thank you all for your patience and guidance. I have obtained a great amount of knowledge from all of you. You, as a staff, have been a great influence in this new career of mine and also role models of how a clinic should be. Thanks Dr. Michelle for letting me observe your practice, and your healing art. Thanks to you, I am sure that this is the path that I want my career as a veterinarian to take. You and all your associates have made miracles happen and you all should be proud! Your staff all work so hard, and do so much for your patients. Keep up the good work, because you are doing things right! Justin - Virginia Maryland Veterinary SchoolLoving Touchers... First of all, I just want to thank everyone for making my stay here so rewarding and enjoyable. And for making "work" so much fun. There is no substitute for a great sense of humor. The last three weeks have been truly eye opening. My view of traditional veterinary medicine has been effectively 'bent". This was fully realized when I found myself holed up in the barn at midnight, smoking cigars and hungrily digesting the Townsend Letter's article on how aster have been used in rural Mexico to treat GI disorders. However, this only indicates that a spark, I once had, has become a flame. Alison - Virginia Maryland Veterinary School (09/08/01)To everyone at LTAC... Thank you all for everything the past three weeks. I have learned so much. It has been so refreshing to learn that there are so many more options in medicine then I have every imagined. My stay here has not only concreted my plan to work in holistic medicine. But it helped expand my thinking to include many more modalities in diagnostics and treatments. You guys have truly helped to shape me into a more caring and better future doctor. Deborah- Mississippi State University, College of Veterinary Medicine (02/16/08) My interest in holistic and complimentary veterinary medicine started with my own animals and family. I have owned several horses that have benefited from acupuncture and chiropractic. My own father did not have to undergo back surgery thanks to herbal, acupuncture and physical therapy treatment. Most veterinary schools do not offer courses in alternative veterinary medicine. Thankfully, I was able to participate in a two-week externship with LTAC this summer. It was incredible! I was able to participate in physical exams, patient care, interact with the clients, and work with the physical therapy patients at Caring Canine. Dr. Zook, Dr. Sasher, Dr. Hyatt and Dr. Michelle were so eager to share their knowledge with me. It was an excellent opportunity to see complimentary Eastern and Western medicine in action. Since my externship, I have received a scholarship from the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and I plan on continuing my education at the Chi Institute after graduation. |
