Dr. Miraida Rivera Viera was born and raised in the Island of Puerto Rico. Her passion for the animals and interest in Medicine led her to apply to veterinary school and in 2006 she was admitted to St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine, located in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Grenada. During her three-year stay at Grenada, she participated in various projects including Ocean Spirits and The Feral Cat Project. In 2008 she was sponsored by St. George’s University to participate in SYMCO, a Symposium on Wildlife Utilization and Conservation in South Africa.
During her fourth year of veterinary career, Ithaca NY became her new home. There, she completed her clinical studies at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and in 2010 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. George’s University. In 2011, Dr. Rivera completed a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut. In 2012, she was introduced to Veterinary Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine while working at an Integrative Practice, Northside Veterinary Clinic in Brooklyn NY. Being able to combine TCVM with Western Veterinary Medicine to treat animals as a “whole” became her new passion.
In 2013, Dr. Rivera moved back home and worked for a year at Centro Medico Veterinario, an AAHA accredited clinic in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Recently she moved to Marietta GA with her fiancé Henry who is pursuing a degree in Chiropractic at Life University. In 2016, Dr. Rivera completed her training in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi institute in Florida.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with Henry, her two cats Girlie, Riley and her rescued dog Minnie. She loves reading anything she can get her hands on about nutrition, alternative medicine and health overall.
